1. Are the Chefs on your platform, real professional Chefs?
Absolutely! We collaborate with a diverse array of professionally trained chefs, each with their own unique culinary journey. Among them are talents who have honed their skills in prestigious restaurants, others who freelance full-time, and some who have ventured into entrepreneurship with their own culinary enterprises.
Our selection process is rigorous, with only around 5% of applicants making the cut. This ensures that we curate a team of chefs who truly stand out in their craft.
Our roster reflects a spectrum of culinary expertise. From up-and-coming talents making waves in trendy eateries to seasoned veterans who have showcased their skills on television's MasterChef, and even Michelin-rated maestros, our chefs embody a range of experiences and backgrounds. Some have carved their niche with their own acclaimed restaurants, adding further depth to our culinary collective.
2. What is Cook Genie ?
Cook Genies encompasses a diverse group of individuals passionate about cooking, ranging from seasoned home cooks to those with professional restaurant and food truck experience. While they may not hold culinary degrees, our home cooks boast extensive experience in preparing delicious meals for their families and friends, honing their skills through years of hands-on practice and experimentation. Additionally, we welcome those with restaurant and food truck backgrounds, enriching our community with their expertise and culinary flair gained from their professional endeavors.
3. I have a small kitchen & can the chef cook in my kitchen?
Our chefs are well-versed in adapting to kitchens of varying sizes, ensuring a seamless cooking experience regardless of space constraints. Typically, our chefs utilize the equipment available in customers' homes, including pots, pans, ovens, and serving ware such as glasses and plates. However, if you find yourself short on equipment or require additional items, simply let us know, and we can accommodate your needs, though this may result in an extra cost.
Once your booking is confirmed, you'll directly communicate with your chef through the platesfull portal, allowing you to discuss and finalize the exact equipment requirements for your unique culinary experience. Whether it's coordinating specific tools or addressing any logistical concerns, our chefs are committed to ensuring your satisfaction every step of the way.
4. What is the cancellation and refund policy?
We believe in providing this flexibility, understanding that social plans can sometimes shift unexpectedly. With our policy, you can enjoy the peace of mind knowing that your booking is backed by our commitment to accommodating changes in your plans.
Cancellation to a booking will incur charges as per below policy-
- Cancellations made beyond 168 hours prior to the event will incur a fee of 10% on the booking amount.
- Cancellations made between 120 hours to 168 hours prior to the event will incur a fee of 50% on the booking amount and any actuals incurred by Chef for groceries or other purchases.
- Cancellations made less than 120 hours prior to the event: No refund and actuals incurred by Chef for groceries or other purchases for the task need to be paid by the client.
Rescheduling Policy
Clients may reschedule their service by requesting the chef to update the schedule. It is in Chef’s discretion to accept/reject the reschedule request. Incase reschedule is not accepted by the Chef, then the cancellation policy rules will be applicable.
5. Is the grocery cost included & can the chef shop for all ingredients?
When you request a quote, chefs typically provide estimates covering their time, task, travel expenses, and basic cleanup services. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how accessible this option is, often comparable to dining out at a restaurant. However, hiring a chef offers a more personal and unique experience, bringing the chef's table ambiance directly to your home or rented venue. The cost of groceries are normally not added in the cost by default and should be requested or mentioned as part of the booking process. The Chef/Cook Genie will then accommodate it as part of the cost.
Many of our customers opt to book a chef while staying in an Airbnb for special occasions like family holidays, Bachelor party, Baby shower or birthday party. Whether you're hosting an intimate gathering for two or a larger party of 20, the chef dedicates their entire day to your event, including shopping and travel time. It's worth noting that due to economies of scale, the grocery expenses for a smaller party of two can often be similar to those of a party of four. This ensures that regardless of your party size, you'll receive the same level of dedication and attention to detail from our chefs.
6. Can I chat with the chef before booking?
We greatly encourage customers to engage with our chefs and collaborate on crafting a menu that perfectly suits their preferences. Whether you want to tweak a dish, substitute ingredients, or add a personal touch, we're here to make your culinary experience extra special. Once your booking is confirmed, you'll have the opportunity to communicate directly with the chef and discuss any special requests or modifications you'd like to make to the menu. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we're committed to ensuring that your dining experience exceeds your expectations in every way possible.
7. What happens if the chef cancels?
If, by any rare chance, a chef needs to cancel your booking, we're committed to finding you a replacement chef. If this isn't possible, we'll promptly issue a full refund of 100%. Additionally, please note that payment for the chef's services is only released to them by our platform once they have successfully catered to your event to your satisfaction.
Your peace of mind is paramount to us, which is why we provide a window of opportunity for you to raise any concerns. You have until 12 PM the day following your event to address any issues that may have arisen. We're here to ensure that your culinary experience is seamless and memorable, every step of the way.
8. Does Platesfull employees carry insurance?
Absolutely! All Platesfull chefs and cook genies are comprehensively insured through our trusted partner, Collective Benefits. While it's incredibly improbable, if any damage occurs to you, your guests, or your property due to the actions of the chef, rest assured that you'll be covered for up to $5 million. Your peace of mind and protection are of utmost importance to us, ensuring that you can fully enjoy your culinary experience without any worries.
9. I have safety concerns with letting a stranger Chef/Cook Genie in my house. How does Platesfull ensure safety?
At Platesfull, your safety is our top priority. We thoroughly vet all our Chefs and Cook Genies through comprehensive background checks and interviews to ensure they meet our high standards. Additionally, we provide liability insurance and appropriate support, giving you peace of mind while you enjoy a personalized culinary experience in your home.
10. Can I book a Chef earlier than 5 days?
Yes. You can book a Chef through the platform and then work with Chef to get an earlier slot. However, this will come with premium charge.
